Green Roof Systems

  • Modular Green Roof Systems
    • Green roof systems are typically installed 'in-place' - each layer is installed individually, one by one, starting with the waterproof membrane and culminating in the installation of either seeded growing media or living plants.
    • This method can be labor intensive and time consuming, however, it is often the preferred application on large scale projects.
    • Modular systems are in development that will allow for significantly quicker installations - which will result in labor cost savings. These systems will basically be 'plug and play' green roofs - individual trays will be delivered to the site complete with the appropriate protective layers, growing media, drainage systems, and even living plants.
    • Green roof trays will be available in multiple sizes and depths - allowing for greater design flexibility. In addition, these trays will be designed to interlock with paver systems and roof planters.
    • These green roof tray systems will allow building and home owners to consider green roof installations in areas that may have been difficult or cost restrictive had the in-place installation method been employed.
    • Another possible benefit is the ability to easily re-design an existing modular green roof - relocate pavers or even redesign the 'look and feel' of your green roof. Replacement or relocation of modules will be quick and easy.
  • Traditional In-Place Installation Systems
    • Large scale projects will typically employ a traditional system.
